The Recruiting Tool I Wish Existed
Jobs
If you are a computer science major or are friends with one, chances are you’ve seen the intern and newgrad github repositories. These sites aggregate job listings and display positions from FAANG companies and other big tech positions the moment they get posted on the company’s internal careers page. Because of the prestige of these companies combined with the large number of CS students looking for jobs, a typical job posting will get hundreds of applicants within the first hour. As a prospective job hunter in the software world, a tool like this is absolutely essential to not fall behind everyone else.
But what if you were the only person with this tool?
Hardware engineering has a few options. Check out engine.xyz, jobright, spacecrew, and of course the LinkedIn job boards to get started. However none of these are fully comprehensive and most importantly, the company list is not customizable!
A big advantage in the hardware recruiting space is knowing the right company to apply for. Keeping your ear to the ground for promising up-and-coming startups is almost half the battle when it comes to job applications, and these job boards just don’t do a good job at it. This tool aims to let you add any company and their careers page to instantly be notified of any listings they put up. I am currently building this tool, as well as a MEGA list of around 800 hardware companies perfect for ambitious engineers.
Will update this blog post once finished and I am even planning on opening it to the public as well! However there is one condition… participants will get 1 week of access to the list for every cool new company they add or for every failed company they remove from the list. Hopefully this allows the public to keep it up to date in a fashion similar to the idea behind p2p file sharing. Check back soon to see the results!
